Urban Crawl
Educational Toy Retailer
[2nd Year]
In almost every aspect of retail, the trend towards a more holistic way of living represents a significant shift from perceived unwholesomeness in modern society. So why shouldn’t this more well-rounded, holistic way of living extend to the way children play? Located in an existing strip mall, “Urban Crawl” riffs from the phrase “urban sprawl”, the way mankind exists on the planet and how that can be done more consciously. The store communicates the idea of children as raw cognitive space, a stark space filled with intensely hued and highly-glossed materials reflect the exciting possibilities of what could fill the mind.

137 York Street
[2nd Year]
York Street sits in the North Limestone district, the quirky, off-beat section of Lexington. The street is lined with derelict shotgun houses in need of revitalization. The space was transformed to allow it to accommodate a family of six, while also reflecting the unique character and spark of the neighborhood.

World's Largest Hackle
[2nd Year]
A hackle is a wide tooth metal comb used for separating the fibers of a hemp plant. The class was tasked with creating an installation piece for a local historic building in the quirky North Limestone Distric that had alternately served a a brewery, a jazz club, and a hemp factory. I proposed a modular design for what would be the world's largest hackle, a claim that would bring interest to the NoLi neighborhood. My piece was ultimately selected out of the class to be built full scale. It curretly serves as a center piece for the neighborhood's weekly night market.
Just a sample of my work.

Expo 2015
US Pavilion at the Milan World's Fair
[3rd Year]
Excess is the accepted unconscious of the modern world—use it once, throw it away, go on with your day, repeat. If the waste thrown away each day worldwide were collected and compacted, it would fill the installation one thousand times… every day… 365 days a year. On an individual level, each bench represents the amount of compacted trash one person in a first world country creates every year. The growing population is using resources at an unprecedented rate, and the earth can only give so much. Our planet hangs in a precarious balance, wherein its natural resources have the potential to provide for everyone, but waste is preventing this from being realized. The US is the leading perpetrator of this problem, which also makes it the perfect candidate to step forward and make a statement about it.

University Court Community Garden
[3rd Year]
This project occured at an existing community garden in the graduate and family housing complex at the University of Kentucky. The garden had sprung up mostly organically and was in need of a better spatial layout and organization. Originally named Shawneetown Community Garden, the area was rebranded Community Court Gardens after the street it sits on, in order to include all members of the surrounding community.

The Bubbicle
[3rd Year]
The Bubbicle is a proposal for a revolutionary approach to the typical office cubical. Instead of a traditional open-top rectangular form, the Bubbicle takes on an encompassing sphere shape that provides full 360-degree enclosure for acoustic and visual privacy. The furniture inside the Bubbicle is also uniquely designed to stimulate conversation by mimicking the booth style format seen in the places where people have their best conversations [coffee shops, restaurants, etc.].
The Bubbicle also offers unique flexible adaptation options not seen in traditional cubicles. The shell of the Bubbicle can be opened and closed to provide varying levels of enclosure. When closed, the Bubbicle provides a great place to do focus work or hold a private conversation. When open, the Bubbicle includes accessories that allow it to be used as a larger conferencing or training space. The finishes of the entire system are also fully customizable to fit any company’s branding scheme.

Verge
[3rd Year]
In this project, a theoretical marketing agency, Verge, was created and positioned in Dublin, Ireland, because of the country’s many new business incentives. A special lobby display element was designed to awe visitors and reflect the Three Rock location. As the final deliverable, a one hour visitor experience was created to fully immerse spectators in the Verge brand environment.

Zeal to Heal
Pediatric Cardiology Unit
[4th Year]
In the first semester of fourth year, students tackle the design of a 22,000 square foot pediatric cardiology unit. Before undertaking the design, lots of research and planning must be conducted. Click the link to take a look at the programming document for the Energy-Infused healthcare design scheme I proposed.

Waterfront Thai Market
[4th Year]
This project saw the creation of an urban market and café space infused with the exotic flavors and healthful customs of Thailand, a country famous for its land and water markets. The market, located in Pittsburgh, PA, provides visitors with the opportunity to experience a slice of Thai culture, shop for ingredients otherwise regionally unavailable, and learn about how the Thai diet promotes healthful habits. Riverfront elements bring the spectacle of a traditional Thai floating market.
